I received this question in an email:
I need to know if the program will allow me to add URLs to the sitemap. I have a nav menu that is in java script and will not automatically add them.Yes and No.
Yes, you can add URLs to the sitemap after it’s done spidering. You just would be adding URLs to the ones it found, though.
No, you cannot specify URLs to instruct the software to spider. I will be adding this feature very soon, though. One other person asked for this and I think it’s a good idea.
JavaScript menus are tricky…and very, very difficult for spiders to navigate.
Google recommends not using JavaScript menus…but they’re so nice people still do.
If you want these pages spidered, I usually recommend people put these menu items as small text in the footer…it’s a very common thing.
See the footer of
http://www.ebay.com as an example
If you don’t want to edit your footer but need to be able to specify URLs to spider, let me know and I can get it prioritized at the top.
Thanks,
Brian
