We have a license for 4.0. Where is the link to download the update/upgrade to 4.2? Why doesn't the message at bootup that says "update now" just provide the link to the update area? Why doesn't the website have an "update now" button or tab or link? Or are we missing the completely obvious? Searching the search function on update or upgrade did not help. Searching the user manual on update or upgrade did not help. We see where to download the trial of 4.2 - is that what we need to install and will we need to reenter our key?

Sorry for the confusion. Please download the v4.2 trial version at: http://www.iarchitect.net/Uploads/106/iArchitect_SG42.zipThe trial version and the full version are actually the same product. Once you enter in your email address in the first tab and click "Save", the license is autheticated and the software is "unlocked".

When I try to run the setup I get a message that says an existing copy of the app is already installed and that I need to use add/remove program to de-install the earlier version. Is that normal, or is there a problem? Will my prior settings be kept?

Uninstall the previous version and install the new version. All settings will be kept.
I know it’s a pain…we’re working on a auto-install version.
