Hi Brian,
A request (more like a PLEA!) for additional functionality: Every time I use Sitemap Generator I have to manually change all of the modification dates of those files that have been updated since the last run of Sitemap Generator.
Yeah, I know, I probably should run Sitemap Generator everytime I make a change, but you know what it's like, you're as busy as hell and you forget...! Setting the compulsory Modification date in the Preferences tab doesn't help much if you have modified files a couple of days in a row without updating the sitemap.
Can you please get your website spider to pick up the modification date automatically from the website files, or does your spider only look for URL's?
If it's possible to pick up the file mod dates this would save hours of time...and the Preferences setting of Modification Date could become non-compulsory.

Brian, an additional thought...
If someone is going to run a schedule then this would currently pick up the Modification date as specified in the Preferences which would soon make a mess of the modification dates, especially if the schedule was frequent.

Hi MacGuiver,
You know what...I meant to get that in v4.0, but pushed it off to get it out quicker. A few features were pushed back to v4.1. Now that I think about this one should have been put in. I already did the research and know how to do this. I will work on this early next week and get it out in v4.1. As soon as this feature is added and tested, I'll post a link to it so you can get it ASAP. Good point on the scheduling.
Actually, there's one problem with this approach. Let's say you have a dynamic page like "ProductDetails.aspx" that renders all products. The server might say that the page was last modified on "1/1/2007" but new products are added everyday. But the approach the application takes now is probably worse.
I think I'll keep the options that are there today but also add: "Use server's modified date" "Use today's date"
Thoughts?
Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian,
I'm looking forward already to v4.1 ... (aren't we gready!)
Your suggested options for the modification date sound just right.
By the way, if you require any "references" for Sitemap Generator you're welcome to use my name, I think it's (already) a great product.
