Hi Brian!
Hopefully you can guide me in the right direction with this question I have! When viewing my google sitemap on the Google Webmaster Tools I noticed that under "Web craw erros" I have 229 "Not found" urls. These are pages that no longer exist and urls that are not found in the sitemap. In your experience, do you think this could hurt my site? Thanks!

I have never heard of it hurting, but it certainly cannot help. It might make your sitemap seem less credible to Google. I would clean it up and give Google an accurate list.

Hi Brian, Thank you for taking the time to respond. I just want to make sure I understand something. You say to clean up the 229 non existent pages? These non-existent pages are out of my frontpage. So you recommend I look at those 229 urls and make pages for them in the location the bots are looking at them and then redo my sitemap so it includes these pages? It's just that since these pages don't exist I don't know what I would put in them. And if I just add them to the sitemap they are still going to be errors because as I just mentioned they do not exist in my frontpage. Excuse my long post and again thank you for taking the time to help me out. I appreciate it!

Are they in the sitemap for the website or just the Google sitemap? If the website, then yes, you want to get rid of them if you really don't want thme. If just the Google sitemap, I would delete them from the results.
